It's a 4-door, 4WD if that's relevant at all. It's very difficult to get it into 3rd gear shifting up from 2nd. If I go from 4th to 3rd on a downshift it goes in like butter. Half the time I can feel my G56 make 2 light pushes against the shifter when going into 1st. I always go into 2nd gear prior to 1st or reverse to get the gears lined up. I even did this on my 4spd muncie in my old chevy truck.

Ford cut the gears with a more square cut to make it stay in gear better. This is the reason it's sometimes hard to put in 1st. Bob.
